Well, we’ve made it to the halfway mark of our pregnancy! I know I probably won’t feel comfortable about everything until baby is 30 weeks, but it still feels really great to have passed 20 weeks. AND, we know what baby is. Here’s our 22 week pregnancy update!
I’ve felt really good since I got entered the second trimester. Sometimes I get the odd headache, but other than that everything has been going well. I’ve had more energy and I haven’t felt sick. I still have a stronger than normal gag reflex, but that’s pretty manageable for the most part. I’ve also started to feel baby kicking away inside.
We had our closest friends and family over to pop a big black balloon and find out our baby’s sex! We didn’t know either, so we found out at the moment they did, and.. well, I think you can tell from this photo how excited we were!
That’s right, ANOTHER BABY GIRL! We are over the moon! I’m such a lover of all things floral and frilly, and I already KNOW what being a girl mom is like, so this should be a cake walk – right? You can see I’m wearing blue. That’s because I was SO SURE baby was a boy! I would’ve put good money on it. This pregnancy has been so different from my pregnancy with Brynn. I guess my body is just a pregnancy professional now..
However, after our gender reveal party, my body gave us a little bit of a scare. I had some light bleeding! Long story short, it was my body and not baby. Baby is safe inside, my cervix is okay, my placenta is not blocking my cervix. Everything is good with baby, and that is great news! My midwife thinks I probably just overdid it on the party planning, which makes sense. So now Mike wants me to take it a bit more easy, and we’re trying to get Brynn to be a little more gentle with us, too. She plays rough, so it’s tough, but it’s a work in progress, as three year olds tend to be!
How Far Along? 22 weeks, 6 days. 23 weeks tomorrow, actually.
Weight Gain: I’ve only gained 2lbs so far!
Sleep: I’m sleeping well, but I switch sides often through the night.
Symptoms: The odd headache, and some random cravings that seem to change daily. But that happened before I was pregnant, too haha. I have energy most days but I never turn down a nap.
Movement: From what I can FEEL, baby girl likes to move mostly at night, or if I sit or lay down she kicks a little bit before she settles. From what we’ve seen on ultrasounds – she is the wiggliest worm ever! She moves SO much more than Brynn did, but she still prefers to hang out very low in my belly.
Food Cravings: This week it has been poutine. Last week was poutine, too. Obviously this isn’t something I want to eat a lot of but I will admit I’ve indulged a few times!
Stretch Marks: Nothing new. Which is good, because I have enough as it is haha.
Names: Right now we have 2 that we’re deciding between, and I have a middle name that I am 100% sure of. Mike isn’t on board with the middle name YET, but it’s my most favourite baby girl name ever, and we can’t use it for a first name, so this is my compromise.
What baby girl names do YOU like? I like unique names, since my name is pretty unique 🙂 Share your faves in the comments below!
